London, Ontario bus routes

Hi fellow Canadians,

Ive pretty much done quite alot of edits wrapping around the entire city of London but ill need help. If you guys could help, im planning on updating all relations of the London Transit Commission (LTC) as its outdated, most if not all routes are not where theyre at right now.

Ive done a few edits myself in an attempt to fix this mess, thank you if you decide to help!

Hi,

I guess, you’re talking about this area: Relation: ‪London‬ (‪7485368‬) | OpenStreetMap

I can configure this in PTNA like I did for some others in Ontario, … PTNA - Results.
It can provide an overview on what is already mapped and where are formal errors in relations.

BTW: does London Transit provide GTFS data? Under which license?
This could provide a list of what exists, so that PTNA can perform an Actual (OSM) to Target (GTFS) comparison

They do provide a GTFS feed under a compatible licence!

Feed source: https://www.londontransit.ca/open-data/

Licence similar to OGL variants: https://www.londontransit.ca/open-data/ltcs-open-data-terms-of-use/

Happy New Year!

That’s great news.

I’ll integrate both PTNA report and GTFS analysis tomorrow as CA-ON-LTC.

Make sure to get the license approved officially by the LWG.

Follow the procedure from this page : OGL Canada and local variants - OpenStreetMap Foundation

Well, according to Canada - OpenStreetMap Wiki their license is not compatible.

That’s the city license though, the transit agency seems to use a different version.

The city version includes a paragraph that passes on any legal costs onto the user if they get sued.

The license version on the transit agency’s website doesn’t include any such clause.

Oops, yeah, I keep my hands off this license topic.

But I configured PTNA’s report generation for CA-ON-LTC including the LTC Routes, listing the routes found in OSM in the area of City of London, Ontario

The city doesn’t publish the transit data on its open data portal, therefore their license doesn’t apply.

It’s entirely on the transit agency’s website (London Transit), so only their license is applicable.

Therefore there shouldn’t be any concerns with the license, but just to be safe it should be confirmed by the LWG
