Limited street lightning with regular off time span

In my municipality street lightning is off each night between 1am-4am. Which tagging is appropriate?

lit = dusk - 01:00; 04:00 - dawn

or is

lit=limited + lit:conditional = off @ (01:00-04:00)

possible as well - or … ?

In principle both are possible. For many other keys, the xyz:conditional variant would be the preferred option. But for lit, the by far most common version is to have the operating hours directly in the lit tag - as the Wiki states:

All of the alternative separate tags used so far experience miniscule usage

And why use 2 tags when one is sufficient :slightly_smiling_face:

But the correct syntax would be dusk-01:00,04:00-dawn. BTW using the , as separator is important.
See what happens when you replace it with ; in this example[1]

  1. The lit hours between midnight and 01:00 get lost. ↩︎
