Hi there, is it possible to include latinised names (in brackets) for place names that are normally written in a non-latin script (such as (place) names in Arabic, Cyrillic, Greek, etc.)? It would greatly enhance the usability of OpenStreetMap and provide a good argument to switch from e.g. Google Maps to this initiative… With best wishes, Nico (penta_tetris)
OpenStreetMap already includes multilingual names, but in separate database fields for each language (and script). However OpenStreetMap is only a database of geographic information and not a map. It depends on the mapping app (the “data consumer”) whether they use these data when displaying a map to you. It is often a setting of your map app that allows you to select the language in which you want to display the information such as place names. Google Maps also allows to set the display language of their map, by the way.

Several of the map layers on the osm.org page already do this - try switching to a different layer!
