Late-night/early morning odd trips in Portland MAX

Hi, I am trying to add the conditional late-night/early-morning trips of MAX to OpenStreetMap, but I am very confused. These trips operate only some times of the day. Do these each need their own relation?

Furthermore, I’m also confused about timings on MAX relations, like this one for the Yellow Line: Relation: ‪MAX Yellow Line: Expo Center => Union Station/Northwest 5th & Glisan‬ (‪4566518‬) | OpenStreetMap

(What are the hours supposed to mean? Looking at TriMet’s schedule, the last departure on this line isn’t exactly 23:30.)

Yes, in general per the OSM public transport mapping standard, each variant of a route gets its own relation. Every variant then gets bundled together in a route_master relation. So if there’s a new route variant that only operates some times of day, you can add that as a new relation with the variant’s individual operating hours as opening_hours.

Looking at that particular route’s history, the last time the hours were updated was 7 years ago, so they’re probably just out-of-date in OSM :slightly_smiling_face: . Per the wiki, the hours should be as such: “Opening hours starts from the first bus (of this route) which leaves the station, closing hours is the last bus arriving at the destination.” So feel free to update them if the schedules have changed!

Thanks, the hours appear to be all-over-the-place across lines, so I think I’ll leave a note.
