I don’t know much about railways, and I never work on them. But now I’m getting a lot of error messages in JOSM saying there are overlapping tracks.
A `landuse=railway` tag has been added that crosses over roads, which is actually correct. Usually, a `landuse` tag isn’t a reason for JOSM to report errors—it’s not a barrier, after all.
When I delete the `landuse=railway` tag, all the error messages disappear, so that’s definitely the cause. What should I do—ignore it, or take action?
This is definitively news to me because I just did some testing in v 19555 and no error appeared. Were there any other tags added to the railway area e.g. railway=*?
Oh, right, there’s also: railway:station_area, which of course doesn’t make sense for the entire route. I’ll take a look to see where the stops actually are.
There’s also a “train station” relation—someone else should take care of that.
As far as I can tell the landuse is tagged correctly, although the value “station_area” is not defined for railway. But the station in this case refers to the operational meaning (from entry signal to entry signal). The station relation (railway=facility) is also correct imo.
