JOSM and ICEwm linux problem

I have opensuse 12.2 with KDE 4.8.5, and currently running IceWM in the search for a faster windows manager ( Ice is fast!). However, one problem cropped up when running JOSM, the keyboards doesn’t work for shortcuts i.e A,S,P and all those wonderful stuff. For all these actions, I can only use whatever is available by clicking the menu. Strangely, if I edit the property of something, like adding a name to a building, the keyboard works.

Anybody encountered this and able to solve it? JOSM (latest and earlier versions) work fine in KDE itself, I just don’t want to log off Ice and log on into KDE everytime I have spare time to edit. Couldn’t find anything relevant on Google, though I am guessing it has something to do with Java…

I am running JOSM under openSUSE 12.2 with absolutely no problem although I do remember reading somewhere in the JOSM wiki about possible keyboard shortcut problems with Linux.

I don’t know anything about iceWM that might help.
