Is there anyone in HOTOSM doing disaster mapping for the current flood disaster in Nepal/Tibet

Hello,

I am a new user of OSM, I have not yet been approved to join the HOTOSM Slack channel. I hope someone from HOTOSM can see this.

Recently, there have been very bad floods in Nepal and Tibet. Many people have their homes destroyed and there are still many missing people whom we don’t know if are still alive. There is also news that on the Tibet side, a lot of information is missing.

Is there anywhere in HOTOSM where they are mapping the disaster zone in Nepal and Tibet? I think it would help the people in the disaster zone.

I believe HOT is already active but I also saw mention in another thread that people can only access (some) tasks with at least intermediate level of expertise

Hi @GurungHM

The HOTOSM team in Nepal set the minimum mapper skill requirement. The imagery is not the easiest and it can be quicker to complete the mapping without spending lots of time fixing up basic and understandable errors.

However there is no reason why you could not start practicing your mapping on easier existing project to build up your record.
