Is there a way to make more zoomed in screenshots?

I am trying to make a screenshot of a custom portion of the map. Using the set custom dimensions and then share. But the result is crap as the map is not zoomed in enough to see all address numbers, which is what I want. Is there a better way to do this?

For the highest-resolution render you can get of Carto on osm.org, try setting the scale to 1 and then it will update to the minimum amount the given area selection can support.

Which produces:

If that isn’t enough, you can also try switching to a vector tiles layer, most of which allow you to zoom in further, and stitching screenshots. Otherwise, an external tool would be needed.

Yeah, you just reposted what I already did. The result is crap.

It is possible, that https://print.get-map.org/ , operator @Hartmut_Holzgraefe, can help you.

This is complete garbage. Your ‘print’ map has no detail at all.

Can you share the id number of the print / render request on print.get-map.org that you are complaining about? When choosing a large enough paper format you’ll get the maximum zoom level the selected base stile provides.

It may still not show all house numbers as collision detection is still a thing, so that house numbers are only rendered when not overlapping with other things, including other house numbers.

For that reason there is a “housenumber” overlay available on the site, too, which will render all house numbers with collision detection disabled.

Your original post did mention setting custom dimensions but did not mention setting the scale (or the little trick I shared for quickly getting the smallest scale number it offers) - that’s why I shared my suggestion

@Onweerwolf, I understand that you’re frustrated after trying a few avenues and not finding a satisfactory solution, but the “…more flies with honey…” adage applies here, and you are using vinegar. We’re all volunteers, trying in good faith to help - a little kindness goes a long way!

Another thing that might help is changing the web browser zoom - move the mouse to the whitespace above the map and zoom out with ctrl-mousewheel_down or similar.

Why not just take a screenshot then, rather than “sharing” the map? e.g.

Win + shft + s does it in Windows

The “Tracestrack Topo” Layer on there looks like it handles displaying the individual addresses a bit better than the other layers.

That’s it splitting addr:unit= to next line. But without knowing where the post is trying the screenshot, we can only guess.
The example is a “national standard stress test” with 4-digit addr:housenumber= , and in fact further 5-digit nearby. USA has long streets, and numbering with blocks or distances.

printmaps-osm.de (it’s not the same as above) and after the way you behave yourself go and please find out yourself how to use it properly.
Also, would really help to have link to the area. Knowing the community someone probably would have done this already for you, despite you behaving the way you did.

@Lumikeiju is aboslutely right. Vinegar and Honey.
