Ireland - Fix Inconsistent Highway Classification

Hello OpenStreetMap Ireland,

I hope you had a Happy St. Patrick Day. Today I would like to announce a new challange Ireland - Fix Inconsistent Highway Classification of only 67 tasks which focused on resolving inconsistent road classifications.
The challenge identifies areas where high-class roads connect to unusually low-class roads. These situations often involve short segments of lower-class roads surrounded by higher-class segments

Why is this important?

Incorrect road classifications within OSM can lead to several problems:

  • Visualization Issues: Roads may not be displayed correctly at different zoom levels, making it difficult for users to understand the road network.
  • Routing Errors: Navigation systems rely on accurate road classifications to determine appropriate routes. Inconsistent classifications can result in inefficient or incorrect directions.
  • Impact on Usability: These inaccuracies detract from the overall usability and reliability of the OSM map for everyone.

Important Note:

Not all tasks will require edits! Some identified cases may be “false positives.” If you determine that the road classification is correct, please mark the task as “Not an Issue.”

Please reach out with any comments, feedback, or questions about this MapRoulette challenge.

Thank you

Salim, TomTom
