Improving Chiang Mai Maps – Requesting Access to Grab’s internal Street-level Imagery

Hey Chiang Mai mappers,

There’s a lot of Mapillary imagery available for Chiang Mai, but much of it is from past years, and new contributions have been limited. Meanwhile, Grab has been pushing Kartaview, and we’ve seen a nice boost in fresh uploads from new contributors. But there are still many gaps—especially in places where Google Street View (which we can’t use) has way more coverage.

We can definitely help by capturing and uploading our own imagery, and some of us are already doing that. But there’s also the option of tapping into existing data. Grab has huge amount of street-level imagery collected for internal use, and making it public could be a win for everyone. It would help local mappers improve the maps Grab relies on, and encourage more Kartaview contributions in areas that still need it.

I’ve already put in a request through @Saikat_Maiti. If you’d like to see this happen, drop a comment below to show your support!
