Import Proposal: City of Lawrence Bikeway Layer

Hello everyone,

I’m planning to import the bikeway network data from the City of Lawrence Bike Plan into OpenStreetMap. I maintain and create this dataset in my role as Transportation Planner for the City of Lawrence, and I hereby grant permission for this import under the Open Database License (ODbL).

Date of Download: June 23, 2025

License:
This dataset is maintained and created by me as part of my role with the City of Lawrence. Although the City website states the data is provided “as is,” I hereby grant permission for this dataset to be imported into OpenStreetMap under the Open Database License (ODbL). Proper attribution will be given as source=City of Lawrence Bike Plan.

Import Plan:

  • Data will be imported manually using JOSM in small batches.
  • Tags will follow standard OSM conventions (e.g., highway=cycleway, cycleway=lane, etc.).
  • The import account will be aspoon_import.

I welcome any feedback, questions, or concerns from the community before proceeding.

Just a small formal comment: if you are not publishing the data as open data on ODbL terms elsewhere, it would be better to import it based on the contributor terms, as you otherwise create an issue if at any point in the future if the community wants to make any, even a minuscule change to the OSM distribution license.
