Import Data from Argics

Hello,

We are using OSM maps via Mapbox to display bikecycle paths in different cities we (Lyft Bikes and Scooters) operate. Here is an example in the Bay Area : https://member.fordgobike.com/map/

We have made in the past a few small edits following the feedback of users or local transportation departments.

The city of Oakland is maintening a map of the bikes lanes here :

I was wondering if there’s an easy way to import this data in OSM?

Thank you for the help,

Matthieu

Imports into OSM are never simple, ultimately because you have to manually merge the new information with the existing features, and it’s very very easy to get it wrong. (It’s also really easy to piss off the local contributors!) Consequently there are detailed guidelines you must follow before carrying out any import.

It would be great to have this data in OSM, but the best way to do it is to engage the local community. There’s a Slack instance for the OSM US community - https://osmus-slack.herokuapp.com - as well as a mailing list at https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-us/ (you’ll need to subscribe before you can post).

Incidentally, I believe you have some OSM experts working for Lyft… maybe ask them.
