Import addresses from City of Chilliwack

Hi there,

I noticed a lot of the house addresses were missing in Chilliwack, so I converted the shp file provided by the city (with the proper license) to an osm with no validation errors in JOSM. I haven’t started a wiki yet, but I simply used some tools for converting the data (shape2osm) and some ai to help remove validation errors. Would love to hear what the community might recommend for this import. Thanks!

Will you be reviewing the points by hand? Do you have a good understanding of the data quality? Have you converted the fields into the OSM schema?

I reviewed many of the them but all 40K+ would be a major task. I’m pretty new to OSM editing but use the maps regularly. I looked up the format conversion for shp to OSM schema and made sure there we’re no validation errors after in Josm. Would love to hear what you think of the OSM file I shared.

Basically what I did for Toronto.I did a review of all suspicious cases by hand, and found multiple bugs in city, reported them, and they were fixed.I also do the monthly maintenance run to add new addresses and remove new ones.Something to think about…

I wouldn’t mind eventually running the maintenance for Chilliwack a few times a year. Currently Chilliwack has no addresses and its a city of over 100,000… while the city next to it Abbotsford has the address numbers. The data that I converted should be quite accurate since it’s the city’s 911 address list in my understanding. I removed all the duplicates and fixed 100 other validation errors.

So, what would the community recommend as a next step? Should we just wait for feedback reviewing/testing the new data?
