Am I the only one to be bothered by the recent change in iD, which now seems to display all the known occurences of a search?
As a result, to show a location, I have to empty the search bar, add a marker, copy+paste the URL, and hit Enter.

This has nothing to do with ID.
It’s a feature of the main OSM page.
Anyway it would have been very careless to copy the search URL and send it to someone to “show a location” because the one location highlighted by the search URL could change at any time due to modifications of data or software. You could search for the name of a pub, verify that the right pub is found, send this to a friend to meet there, and when they run the same search URL they find a different pub of the same name that has just been added to OSM!
Anyway, it was changed recently and I don’t like it®
