If I select an object or node and I right click, I get a dropdown menu with various options. If I click on a node on a way, one of those options is to split the way using the scissors pictogram.
With this node: Node: 12438303214 | OpenStreetMap and other nodes on that way, the scissors pictogram is greyed-out and unavailable. This seems incorrect.
I have noticed it on some other ways recently. I have tried closing my browser, logging out and clearing cache, but the issue remains.
This happens because the way the node is connected also is part of two different relations and iD only allows you to split these if the neighbouring elements of the way you want to split are downloaded in order to figure out the order of the new ways.[1]
The solution is to either zoom out a bit and move around the map a little to download the ways manually or select the way, go down to relation and download all their members to do it in place.[2]
I assume that this is neighbouring in the relation list, not physically, but this detail doesn’t really matter, you need to download more parts of the route. ↩︎
You can also download the individual elements but it’s a bit tedious because you need to find the elements in the list. ↩︎
