Sometimes several objects have identical positions and I haven’t found out how to select the right one in ID when they overlap. How can I select an object which is below another object?

Use JOSM instead. As well as mechanisms to resolve conflicting matches, you can filter, based on tag, value and some metadata, so that objects are not selectable, making it easy to select the class of object that interests you.
