How to tag traffic signals timings?

From a theoretical standpoint, most routers are fundamentally unreliable anyways because they don’t do continuous optimization, but tell that to the people who rely on routers in their travels.

With statistics and averages, one can get quite close to a good estimate. The point was that routers can’t make use of too much detail without major changes. Though that’s besides the request of OP, I admit that.

I feel like this is going to lead to value clashes at some point. Unless we want to allow something like traffic_signals=continuous_green;long_red which seems paradoxical. But in the meantime, it’s probably fine.

I don’t think it necessarily means we have to come up with the perfect methodology for recording every traffic light out there. That’s just scope creep.

Perhaps the title would benefit from a corresponding scope reduction.

Delivery drivers tend to have short routes in urban areas. They have a low tolerance for error in travel time estimates, to the point that stop signs become relevant, let alone traffic lights.

Is that why they ignore signs and traffic lights? Because routers ignore them too and they don’t keep to their estimated travel time otherwise?
