I’ve encountered a doormat (here) which is a part of a sidewalk going by the hotel and is separated from the nearby crossing by just one ~30cm paving stone (excluding kerb extension). What’s the best way to tag them, since I have found no tags for doormats themselves?
The point marks the beginning of the doormat. The imagery is Polish Geoportal True Ortho.
Taginfo does have a few entries for various sorts of “mat”. Whether that’s the best answer here (consumers would not expect it) is a different question.
Edit: spelling
I wouldn’t think surface key is the best one, since the mat can be made of different materials, e.g. rubber or fabric, therefore I hadn’t thought to find the answer there.
Maybe that’s the good side of ATYL: you can influence the whole world how to interpret something unique. I thought of doormat=yes and maybe I should tag the mat so, and create respective Wiki article.
I would definitely split the sidewalk way on the carpet boundaries, and find some surface=/material= tag to use.
