How to map rainwater harvesting features (zai pits, water bunds)

I am very excited by the work for land regeneration that is happening around the world. One thing that is very interesting is the water bunds that people in Kenya, Niger, India and other places is doing.

I was mapping around Niger the other day, with HOT osm, and I saw some plots with water bunds. I wanted to map them, maybe with landuse, but I haven’t found any way to map them with OSM.

There are several similar traditional techniques for land regeneration. like zai pits (or tassa), semicircular bunds, contour bunding.

In India they are doing rectangular pits to slow rainwater and allow it to sip into the soil.

I think it would be nice to be able to map those structures in OSM, so their efects can be measured and quantified.

Is there are plan/project working on this?

I think you’d be looking for a Tag:basin=infiltration - OpenStreetMap Wiki

Thanks! This tag solves my problem for the moment.
