Hello, how should I map a large events venue? It is mostly used for annual army day parade and other military events and contains just road and bleachers. I couldn’t find anything except amenity=events_venue on this topic.
Sounds like parade ground?

Maybe invent amenity=parade_ground
?
(or maybe there is a better name for that?)
disclaimer: not a native speaker, not military specialist
Does it belong to the military, or simply lent to them on those days? military=parade_ground | Tags | OpenStreetMap Taginfo
Me and others want to replace those in general with more generic amenity=event_ground
, which event_ground=
(or event=
) can allow more flexibility in adapting to the occasional military use Proposal:Showground (2) - OpenStreetMap Wiki
The ground is owned by the military. On Army Day the general public is allowed to come to this ground, while the rest of the year it is used for minor military events.
What “military events”? For the public? Then military=parade_ground
should be the best.
military=training_area
would be used where they actually practice the march, and perform exercises. This doesn’t seem to be the case from your wording.
Apologies for my poor wording. The Army Day parade is the only one that is open to general public audience. On other days, it is used either for other military parades or to practise marches for those parades.
No, I wouldn’t say that =training_area would be used for something like that. Military “training areas” are almost invariably out in the countryside, where the military can practice movement, firing etc.
If they’re using the parade ground to rehearse for a big event, it’s still only a parade ground.
