How to deal with dual carriageways turned into single carriageways?

Hello,

I was wondering how to deal with this situation:

An old dual carriageway road is bypassed by a motorway, and since the old road no longer has enough traffic to justify 4 lanes, one carriageway was abandoned and the second carriageway was converted to be two-way. How do you show the abandoned carriageway on the map?

And how does this apply to bridges? This could be twin bridges where one bridge is abandoned, or where one bridge carried all 4 lanes but is now half abandoned.

Can someone help me out please?

You can use the disused:*=* lifecycle prefix and tag the unused carriageway as disused:highway=*

How do you show the abandoned carriageway on the map?

do you mean how to force display at default map at osm.org or how to map it or how to show on own map?

is the abandoned carriageway used otherwise, e.g. by cyclists and pedestrians? Or is it inaccessible?

I would map man_made=bridge - it is still a bridge after all. If it deeply ruined then ruins:man_made=bridge

It depends on how visible it is.

A similar situation occurred here OpenStreetMap.

I wouldn’t map the dead carriageway as other than a wide verge in places it has been eliminated.
