How to add 3D tags for a staircase and preview the changes?

,

Hi, I’m starting to try to make 3D buildings, I’m already using jsom with the kendzi3d plugin, but it doesn’t seem to have a way to render stairs then I’ve found this F3DB - OpenStreetMap Wiki but it seems that is discontinued, so the only 3D tags available are those in Simple 3D Buildings - OpenStreetMap Wiki there exist a way to add 3D tags to render a staircase that aren’t in the wiki, or there exist another plugin for josm or way to preview the changes in 3D tags? Is what is stated here https://[]wiki[.]openstreetmap[.]org/wiki/Stairs_modelling still valid for tagging stairs at least in 2D? any help is appreciated.

Ojalá puedas abrirlo y compartir tu experiencia.
Saludos.

Hello, F4 map does render stairs, but only marked as building or building:part AND as part of a skillion roof, by following a little bit of Stairs_modelling and Simple_3D_Buildings

You can use building=steps or building:part=steps.

step:height and step_count are used, defaulting to 16cm and using roof height to compute step count if not provided

you may use direction or orientation so that the staircase is in the right direction.

Rendering highway=steps in 3D requires elevation which is still a work in (slow) progress.

You can take a look at Denver stadium to see it in action

Adding a skillion roof should not be mandatory though, so I’ll add an issue to track that.

OSM2World does have experimental support for highway=steps + location=roof on top of building parts with skillion roofs roofs. The idea is to allow for these steps to be usable by routing engines as well, which is a potential drawback when they’re (only) mapped as a building part.

I probably should add support for building:part=steps as well, though, given that the tag is relatively common, but it’s currently not supported yet.

Thanks for the answers and sorry for responding so late, I will continue experimenting and sharing the results here.

Hello,

It takes time but this works and looks realistic:

  1. Draw a building
  2. Draw steps on closed stairs as buildingparts inside the building with appropriate heights for each step
  3. Or draw steps on open stairs as building:part = roof (flat shape)
  4. Add material and color

Example: F4map Demo - Interactive 3D map

Best regards
Mic
