This type of edit is probably impossible to do in iD (the web-based editor).
It could also be done in JOSM by downloading the relation without members and editing the tag.
@Chessel did everything that is needed, added a changeset comment, but received an error message instead. If I look at the edit numbers of @Chessel I rather think that it was a anti-vandalism rule not a problem of the editor.
Hi, glad I was on the right track. What should I do in future if I want to do something similar but there are anti-vandalism rules in place? I was hoping that the “Have someone check your changes” tickbox would have meant it was okay to do. Or the fact I didn’t zoom in - does that make a difference? As I say, haven’t got a clue about appropriate zoom levels.
only a few edits and big bounding box of the changeset would be a simple rule to avoid vandalism such as was done some months ago. It would affect your valid edit injustly. To be able to edit the names of a big area as @ZeLonewolf has done it seems you’ve got to do a lot of edits on a smaller scale like i.e. name:en of towns or other ones that you can do.
