House number of rear building

Hi everyone,

I am currently working to complete some missing information in my neighborhood (in Germany) and got stuck with a somewhat basic question that I was not able to answer from the wiki. One category of missing information are house numbers, as my neighborhood has many buildings with rear buildings, which do not have their own house number (i.e. not even in the official register). Can I/should I assign the house number of the corresponding front building to the rear building?

Thanks!

Are they dwellings, or outbuildings (like sheds, garages, etc.)?

If dwellings, how would someone living there have mail delivered, or tell visitors where they live?

If they have no addresses in reality I would expect them to have no addresses in OSM

why you want to add addresses to them?

Can you share location/photo how it looks in reality?

They are dwellings and as they can only be accessed via the front house (see number 32 in the screenshot of the official register below), people always use the address of the front houses. The door bell and post box are also at the front house.

The question of why is a good point. I guess it is a question of whether the building should have that number if it can be reached via this address even if it does not have it itself. As it can be found through the front house, I will not add a number.

in many areas of Germany housenumbers are assigned to plots (Grundstück) and not to buildings. In OpenStreetMap we do not currently map plots, so you can add the same address to all buildings on the plot.
