I would love to see your evidence that very bad data discourages new contributors so I could potentially use it as evidence of such.

maybe I generalize too much from personal experience, but I really would be more interested in being first to map a given area rather than encountering overlapping building, wrong landuse etc

I’d like to see any evidence you have of HOT mappers deliberately creating fake data, rather than deliberately creating bad data out of ignorance.

I am not claiming that this is dine deliberately to harm OSM

I don’t know why they created those poor tiles.

I bet that the tiles match how task manager split area into section, so each person mapped separate tile and then noone reviewed outcome of that effort.
