I develop GetIt., a location-based reminder app. Some of our users save places that are not on OpenStreetMap yet, and we have built a small pipeline to offer those places to OSM. I would rather flag it here before the first upload than after.
What gets added: a node with the name the user typed themselves, at the point they tapped themselves, plus a category they picked from a fixed list. Nothing else. No addresses, no opening hours, no contributor identity.
Where the data comes from: the user’s own first-hand knowledge of the place, which the app asks them to confirm immediately before contributing.
How it works: every contribution is reviewed by a person before anything is uploaded. Review checks it against existing OSM data by proximity and by name, plus a live API check at review time, so anything already mapped is dropped rather than duplicated. Positions are checked against imagery. A name that is a personal note rather than the name on the sign gets corrected, or the row gets rejected. Anything I cannot verify is filed as a public note for local mappers instead of being edited directly. Uploads are manual, through JOSM, one small changeset per session.
Account and tags: all edits go out as LogicMind, with source=local knowledge, the hashtag #getit, and a link to the activity page in the changeset comment.
Activity page: Organised Editing/Activities/GetIt.
Volume: low. This is a trickle of individual places as users contribute them, not an import. Locations follow wherever our users happen to be, so they will be scattered rather than concentrated in one area.
