Greek route numbers

Sorry if I missed the forum message: I think I got mixed up with the workflow today while removing turn restrictions made redundant by the new section of the A5.

The 1963 decree, supported by section A4 of Ministerial Decision DMEO/e/O/1308/1995, states that the southern end of the EO5 starts in Rio. I believe this is still the case, because the ferry still runs for traffic not allowed on the bridge.

I do not think there is an issue with ferries being part of a national road (especially as that ferry was the only route between Rio and Antirrio before the bridge opened).

However, I can accept an alternative tag for ref=* on the ferry route, or leaving the ferry route out of the relation. However, I think the road link between the ferry and the EO8 should be reinstated as part of the EO5, because of the decrees.

OK, this makes sense too, as we only had the ref and relation values in one of the two ferry routes.

I will capture again the EO5 value connecting to EO8 in Rio then. Thanks!

Following up on the completion of EO55 (Xanthi-Echinos-GR-BG border crossing) (Source: AKTOR: Ολοκληρώθηκε ο Κάθετος Άξονας 70 στην Εγνατία Οδό ) I was wondering if it makes more sense to update highway type from Secondary to Primary from existing Primary EO14 until border crossing with Bulgaria. Any opinions?

I did the details on the border station since it’s now officially open for public passage.

I also refreshed the last section “Dimari-Border station” which is brand new road.
I used the naming of that section from Egnatia Odos website reference.

So this is a complete road between a brand new border crossing towards Egnatia.
This surely applies for primary road status.

On the other hand, most of the road section from Exinos to Dimari is the old road which is not “primary” status road.

Indeed, hence my open question

It officially now serves as a primary axis, it is a EO route, so would it make sense to update it to primary despite some “secondary” segments? I believe there are similar cases elsewhere.

Page 228 of Ministerial Decision DMEO/e/O/1308/1995 (near the end of the page) states that the ΕΟ55 is part of the tertiary network. Therefore the road is highway=secondary.

That’s my point too… so I wanted to align with the community.
