GPX tracks layer update

I had uploaded 500+ GPX tracks (as public) over a decade. Part of them are raw and some got outdated. Many roads has been changed since then. Beside some privacy concerns because they are too obvious from single contributor in those area.

Instead of cherry picking one by one. I have deleted all of them couple days ago. I still have copies to filter them locally and re-upload needed ones.

When I check OSM back. There are zero (0) traces in my profile. However, the GPX layer on OSM is still showing as it seems all my traces!

  • How many days does OSM usually take to update GPX layer?
  • Or do I need to follow a specific procedure to fully delete them?

It never happens.

You’d need to write the missing code (both from OSM itself and the GPS layer) to allow it to be updated when traces are deleted.

It’s never been a big enough priority for anyone.

Then there is no benefits to clean and re-upload them, they always get over-drewn by the complete raw traces. Thank you.

The “GPX layer” is just one of many ways you can utilize the tracks (and in a way it is the most anonymous one), so deleting them does partially achieve what you intended to do (for example you won’t be able to download them in JOSM).
