gosmore North America map rendering time?

I have been running my home server for about 24 hours now trying to build the North America map that I downloaded from one of the mirrors. The machine is a P4 2.8 GHZ with a Gig of RAM running Slackware 12.1. Gosmore has had at least 99% of the processor the whole time. I’d hate to stop it only to find out that it only needed another minute. I am tempted to stop it and try a small map. The gosmore page estimates 5 hours to build the planet.osm file in 5 hours on a machine double mine. Anyone have any idea hwo long it should really take?

Judging on my experiences with compiling worldwide Gosmore databases you must expect Gosmore to run up to 2 or 3 days to process all of America. This is on hardware compatible to yours (single core P4 3GHz), but my machine is overheating constantly (clock throttling) and is also compiling about 100 combined Garmin maps every day. So you might expect 1 to 2 days realistically.
