Geo-Referenced Rasters

Hi, I’m new to JOSM and Open Street Map.

Is there any possibility or any plug-in to open the Geo-Referenced Rasters in JOSM, Pls guide me

Thanks
Sankar.

Welcome to OSM!

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand your question. What do you mean by “Geo-Referenced Rasters”?

Hi,

Geo-referencing means image registration, If you have Scanned map or a raster map which doesn’t include calibration data, you’ll need to create it yourself; this process is called “image registration” or geo-referencing. (Fixing of map co-ordinates to earth co-ordinates)

Thanks
Sankar.

I just learned about this the other day, but you can upload your files (GeoTIFF in WGS 84 only) to http://whooms.mapwarper.net/, which will then give you a WMS link that you can use with JOSM’s wmsplugin. I just pick “Rectified Image” from the WMS menu and paste the WMS URL into the field there.

The other thread is http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=7678.

Naturally, if you’re tracing from the images, you need to make sure their licensing terms are compatible with OSM’s.

Ah, I see. I didn’t understand that “raster” meant “image”. Now of course it’s quite plain to me.
