Is there any reason why this specific sentence is the “tagline” of the OSM subreddit?
It genuinely bothers me because it… doesn’t make much (if any) sense

Most probably for historical reasons.
If it really bothers you, then you could discuss this with @Pieter_Vander_Vennet as a moderator of the subreddit…
It has always been there and was never updated, that is why.
I’ve changed it in the meantime. Better suggestions welcome
