Thank You, my first impression was indeed that you would differentiate like the JOSM template does:

Of those three choices in 99+% I will select that one most below. But that may only be due to my whereabouts.

This is exactly the type of way with cannot be tagged properly/distinguished from an actual trail today because both are currently hw=path without access tags

If only there were signs that would tell them apart! The term trail by itself not enough?
