Garmin map for china

hi ,
I want to travel to china but I can not find a map for a Garmin .
Does someone know where to find a image file ready to download
special for the region around shanghai ???
Anyway do the chinese like people using GPS devices
in the country ?

You can download Garmin images from different providers some of which might provide images for China, like this one.

Are the Garmins able to display the chinese characters or are they
simply filtered out by mkgmap?
