I love traveling, geography, maps and exploring real cities. As a hobby project, I created a free Telegram experiment called TonRoad.
The idea is to make virtual city exploration more social and interactive.
In TonRoad, people can travel together in one virtual car, vote where to go next, explore real cities as a group, invite friends, complete exploration tasks, chat during the journey, collect coins and learn about interesting places.
There is also an idea with real airplanes: you can find a real flight, see where it is flying, and continue your virtual journey in that destination city.
The project is still in development, and I would really appreciate feedback from people who understand maps, cities and geography.
My questions:
What would make this useful or interesting for map lovers?
What kind of city exploration tasks would you suggest?
Which places or cities would be good to test first?
Could this idea be useful for learning about places and local geography?
Thank you for your honest feedback. You are right: TonRoad does not currently have a direct connection to OpenStreetMap, and I understand that this forum may not be the right place to introduce it.
The coins are only free in-game points for small exploration tasks and discoveries. They are not cryptocurrency: there is no blockchain, wallet, trading, investment, payment, or withdrawal of money.
I created TonRoad as a small hobby experiment for people who enjoy exploring real cities together, but I understand why the post could look unclear or suspicious in this context.
Your suggestion about a YouTube channel or communities focused on geography, unusual places, maps and virtual travel is sensible. I will rethink where and how I present the project.
