I’ve recently discovered the case of El Ojo (The Eye), a natural free floating island in Argentina, here. The island is currently mapped, but after checking other famous cases it seems that it is common practice not to map unpredictable natural features in OSM, suggesting only the lake should be mapped but not the island. What do you think?
In the case of El Ojo, I think it’s fine to map it. The body of water in which it’s floating is only marginally larger than the island, which means the error in the location on any given day will be fairly minimal. In the case of islands drifting around much larger water bodies, I’d say they’re too non-static to map in OSM.
