Follow a hashtag

Hey guys, does anyone know if it’s possible to follow project hashtags? Thanks!

If you don’t want to write something yourself, your best bet is probably one of the analysis tools at or one of the other sites there, or alternatively which allows you to filter recent changesets in various ways.

Hashtags are just text - depending on the editor that the mapper was using, they will appear in either a changeset’s “comment” field or a separate “hashtags” field. See for an example changeset .

Personally, I’d much prefer people put useful comments in changeset text rather than hashtags - the only human readable text in that randomly-chosen example is “Buildings in”, the hashtags are basically useless - there’s no way to get from “#hotosm-project-XYZ” to a project page that describes what the project is about, who is organising it or what the goals are. This is absolutely not the fault of the project mappers here - they’re just doing what they’ve been told to do by the people organising the mapping project that they’re taking part in.

Hello all. In my opinion, hashtags indicating organized projects are not useless at all. It can potentially be one of the metrics to assess data quality especially for the fitness of use of a dataset. For me, as a researcher, is quite useful to know in what areas mapping projects or mapathons have taken place.
