Opened an area for editing once and saw an entire way with all of its nodes flashing. What does that mean? was someone else editing these nodes?
It means they’re so-called “duplicate nodes” - in other words, each of those nodes is in the same location as another. Sometimes they’re caused by boundaries and should not be fixed by joining: http://trac.openstreetmap.org/ticket/2708
