Bitte.

Dear Sir:
No, it is not a false search result nor a “bug”.
Rather, it is the result of false expectations on the part of the searcher. The system knows many entities relating to the name “Rottenberg”. The searcher must be more specific to get the desired result directly.
Using the proper name of the city “Rottenburg am Neckar”, far better results are availed. Please, take careful note of the location suffix.
How many Frankfurts are there in Germany? I know of only four: Frankfurt am Main, Frankfurt (Oder), Frankfurt (Markt Taschendorf) and Stadt Frankfurt (Wanzleben).
Dear Sir,
thanks a lot for your answer. Ok, it is not a bug. I am a librarian and used to search exactly in a library catalogue because only the newiest library resource discovery systems can handle non-exactl matches or misspelling. But I also trained with google like search results and this is what you mean with false expectations. Ok.
I agree that the user must disambiguate the results if there are name equivalences or similiarities or relations. But I want to understand why a search to Rottenburg finds first results with Roter Berg, then with Rottenberg. I could not understand the search ranking. Now I have seen that this is the ranking from Nominatim. Down of the Nominatim results are the results of GeoNames. There are better rankings. The first 6 results are Rottenburg in any combination and then you will find villages related to Rottenburg like Kiebingen (on the seventh position).
Is there any possibility to sort the Nominatim results? Because the “normal” user - I assume - would like to find first bigger entities like towns and on later position bus stops or summits.
Thanks for your german answer, I hope my english ist understandable
