The topic of my thesis is “The impact of standardization of boundary resources on the innovativeness of digital platforms”. Part of my work deals with the empirical analysis of OpenStreetMap and especially with the Editing API as a example for a boundary resource.
The basis for my work is relevant research literature on this topic. Based on this, I compare the found results from research with the status quo in practice. A special focus is on the identification of characteristics and factors that influence the innovation capability of digital platforms. The editing application programming interfaces of OpenStreetMap will serve as an example. More precisely, it will be investigated whether APIs are used for standardization. In addition, the effects and motivations with regard to standardization and innovation of the individual versions will be discussed. In the interview, the versions V0.3 to V0.6 will be considered.
And therefor I need your expertise I would be really happy and thankful if somebody would share their knowledge about the APIs
