District, municipalty, sao offices questions

I have a few question between is District office really a town halls as it not local governments. Meanwhile place like municipal or sao office are usally tag as government office. In bangkok it clear district office is town halls as it functions as both district office and city Muncipality. But the rest of thailand have driffent system as they both saparate, I like to ask should district office continue to be tag as townhall or should it be other like sao or minicipal offices instead

Interesting point. Given that they are all “administrative center,” I think tagging both as amenity=townhall is fine and straightforward, and as I know, current situation in OSM is usually like that.

Because 2 systems co-existed in Thailand, out of Bangkok. Provincial hall and district office are for 2 tiers of provincial administration, and PAO/municipality/SAO office are for 2 tiers of local administration.

The provincial hall and district office appear more important on standard Thai maps and in Thai perception, and they were once typically the town’s or city’s heart. It is typically marked on maps as a significant place, as individuals must visit for some official duties. Nonetheless, the local administration office importance is increasing and should also be tagged since it fits the OSM wiki description.

The situation in Bangkok is different. Bangkok’s district office was once a legitimate district office like those in other provinces, but it’s now functions as just one department of Bangkok rather than a distinct municipality. The Bangkok city hall itself should certainly be amenity=townhall, but the district office can also be tagged too if it makes things easier and people also need to go there for certain tasks too.
