I want to add disabled parking bays in my town. But when I create a node, nothing shows up on the map.
I have been trying to have a look around the world in OSM but I cannot find any.
Am I missing something there.
How can I just add a little P with a wheel chair logo on top of the parking space.
On the standard “OSM Carto” map, only parking areas are shown with a “P”. Individual parking spaces are only shown with a small border as an area, but without a “P”.
I have changed this at your parking space, now you can see the two spaces on the map, but the “P” symbol is reserved for the entire surrounding parking area: Way: 1307666435 | OpenStreetMap
Unfortunately not in the standard map, which cannot be customized. There was already a ticket for this, but although it was marked as “completed”, it was never implemented like many other things in Carto.
You absolutely could make a map layer that shows that information, but lots of maps exist already. First, it’s worth a look at the six different map layers available on osm.org, but unfortunately none of those seem to show the information that you are interested in.
However, there are lots of other maps. Looking at the tags on the way that you mentioned, you can see which projects support them in taginfo. For example, here is the list for parking_space=disabled. Of that list, MapComplete Parking looks interesting. If you click through to that and zoom in to your part of the world you can see your parking spaces.
Yes, that’s something that’s always confused me - we (OK - Carto) show standard car parks, motorbike parking & bicycle racks, but, especially these days with awareness & concentration on “accessibility”, disabled parking isn’t shown?
