✅ Deleting Images from Panoramax

Hi,
recently I’ve uploaded a few images via MapComplete (Panoramax) and that didn’t work well with 2 images. They are not associated with the POI for which I uploaded the image. But those images can still be found on the Panoramax map (MapComplet instance), where I was at the time I’ve uploaded them. Is there a way to delete images that I’ve uploaded myself?

Thanks,
Hermann

UPDATE: I’ve found a way to report wrongly placed images to the Panoramax people. Simply open the Panoramax Map (MapComplete in my case), navigate to the image, open it and click the button “report image” (or so). There doesn’t seem to be a way to delete the photo/image by myself.

This is due to the way Mapcomplete integrates with Panoramax.

When you upload a picture with Mapcomplete, it goes on the Mapcomplete instance and with a single global user account, so you have no possibility to delete you picture thru Panoramax.

This should be handled in Mapcomplete itself… but is there clear tracking of who uploaded which picture ? No idea.

On way to hide them, is to report it with a missing blurring… while you are on panoramax.mapcomplete.org

There is an uploader user name attached to each image and one can only upload images while logged into MapComplete.
There are a bunch of reason why I can report an image and one of them is that the image is at the wrong place.
I’ve reported it already and it should be fine.
Thanks for your info and comment.

It’s probably this bug:

There is no need to delete the images, in fact, if you leave them, they’ll probably be associated with right POI when this bug is fully resolved.

And even images not linked to OSM elements are still quite useful, so why would you delete them?

Only reason for requesting deleting the images would be if you (by mistake) uploaded photo of some private information which you would not want anyone to see (e.g. your medical records, or government-mandated IDs, or something like that).

Otherwise, please leave the photos you contributed, they’re valuable!

I did upload the images again to the right place, so in my case they are duplicates. Thanks though for your thoughts on this.
