this is a kind of information for the Swedish community.
I am German and have cycled Cykelspåret längs ostkusten in 2009/2010. In these years was the singing of this route very good. This year I also cycled in Sweden. In the beginning I followed the Cykelspåret from Trelleborg up to Smirishamn. There were less than 5 signs for the Cykelspåret. This signs were very old. The other routes following the same routes had a lot of new signs.
I had the impression Cykelspåret längs ostkusten does not exist anymore.
I can reach out to the one organizing this according to naturkartan.se to see why there are so few signs if you want. There is an email there you can contact as well if you want to
But seems like it exists, if anything the signs are just kinda gone
I got curious, so here’s what I found from a quick search…
The bicycle route Cykelspåret längs ostkusten appears to have been established by Cykelfrämjandet. Though, the only reference I’ve found now on their site is under a different name:
I don’t know what kind of relationship Cykelfrämjandet and Region Skåne has, but on the sydostleden site Region Skåne claims to be the official custodian (sv: huvudman) for sydostleden.
I always assumed that the local chapters of Cykelfrämjandet took care of “their” part of the route and therefore the varied state of signs. I checked now and it seems that there aren’t local chapters for every county so maybe it isn’t so.
Hi, I was looking into this too. The only explicit map available seems to be this paper map from 2014: Köp Cykelspåret längs Ostkusten med snabb leverans - Kartbutiken.se but there is also Eurovelo 10 which has both “ready” and “planned” parts around the east coast which use Cykelspåret. The GPX tracks are available on their website.
I had the opportunity to ask someone at Cykelfrämjandet yesterday and they were confused and said the route still totally exists and there are signs everywhere (except in Stockholm) but maybe they are difficult to see.
I think like this: https://www.umdiewelt.de/photos/4211/9198/8/921057_d3.jpg. I saw one near Trosa recently, but I didn’t pay too much attention. I think I’ll try to follow the route out of Stockholm some day when there isn’t snow and map the signs…
