I don’t think we should see the French version as a “local” version describing how we map in France. Countryspecific documentation can be in any language (and ideally would be) but should be explicit about the scope (marked as specific for some areas). The different versions of the wiki are for languages, not for countries or regions. There are many countries where French is an official language.
