Cycle Path vs Path

Hi. I’m new here, and I’m struggling to understand the difference between a cycle path and a path.

Specifically, there is a walking/cycling track in my are that states that it is for use of cyclists and pedestrians. In OSM it is marked as a cycling path. This demarcation, however, says to me that it is exclusively for access of cyclists, which it is not. Should I change this to the more generic ‘Path’ in this instance?

I’d tag something as a cycleway if “that’s what it looks most like”. There’s a discussion on the wiki about foot access on cycleways https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:highway%3Dcycleway#Foot_access_on_cycleways and the default access to things varies by country - see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_tags_for_routing/Access-Restrictions for that.
