Create Czechia community category

Hello,

I would like to request the creation of a community category for Czechia (Czech Republic).

Currently, the URL Österreich (Austria) - OpenStreetMap Community Forum redirects incorrectly to the Austria (AT) section. There is no dedicated Czechia category visible under “Communities → Europe”.

The Czech OSM community is active mainly on the mailing list (talk-cz@openstreetmap.org) and on Matrix (#osm-cz:matrix.org), and we would like to have an official space on the Discourse forum as well — similar to other European countries.

Suggested slug: /c/communities/czechia/
Language: Czech (cs)

Hi @Lopata007, thanks for your suggestion! Please open a request in This Site Feedback > New category requests. The main thing we want to see from a category request would be multiple volunteers for moderating the new category.

Where did you encounter that link? In general, the decisive component of a Discourse URL is the numeric ID. So these URLs all end up at the same location (the Austria category, which is category number 59):

Instead of creating a new community, you can re-enable the read-only category that was imported from the old forum:

Yes, it makes sense to re-enable the old category. But the process for requesting that is the same as for a new category. In particular, we would still need volunteers for the category moderator positions.
