It allows you, for viewing purposes, to superimpose OSM data, in any renderer format, on top of satellite imagery from Google, Bing or Yahoo.
I wish you could use it as a tile server for Mobile Atlas Creator to create custom maps for my GPS.
Would also be nice if you could control transparency levels.
