Converting closed line to area

I have been editing some data for my local area and have tried to convert an existing line to an area. The line appeared to be closed and was outlining an area of forestry which did not display as such on the map.

The only way I could find to change this to an area was to append a new tag ‘area=yes’. This works in the editor and shows as forestry but does not seem to be translated to the map. Is there something else I need to do or some other way to achieve this?

I guess you mean this way? It isn’t “closed”. If it would be, it’s first and last node would be the same. But it’s second node is the same as the last one, so removing the first should solve it. Likely you’ve hit the way instead of it’s first node while “closing” it.
