Hi OSM community,
I’m editing the maps on my end to reflect accurate road conditions. I would like to at least upload my edits so the community can get them. How do I go about doing this? Would i need approval?

You come here:OpenStreetMap, edit whatever you want, and then publish (no approval needed).

nice to get you here :) You write like you did already some editing. On what device with what application did you edit the data?
Otherwise if you just want to start. www.openstreetmap.org is probably a good choice to start. On the left top there is a “Edit”.
The wiki https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/ is also really helpful to understand a lot of stuff - there is also a beginners guide available on the starting site of the wiki.

Yes I have been, I’ve been doing it in JOSM for .osm files stored locally sadly, which is why I’m finding it troublesome to add it back to the OSM website directly.
I’m hoping there’s a way for me to do it directly from JOSM, or to export a file that can be imported in OSM.
Would you have an answer for me?

Well, impressive you started immediately with JOSM. You can of course upload it directly in JOSM itself, look into the top left, there are icons available for upload if you are logged in.
You might have to go into settings beforehand to log in to OSM directly in JOSM.
I don’t have JOSM currently available, would have to check later.
Keep in mind, if you made this edits in a long time you probably will get some errors as other might have touched the stuff you edited meanwhile.
