Personally I have been disagreeing with using brand:*= directly. The purpose of contact:*= is to group all apps with the same use together. This means applications can’t know whether a new brand:*= is a method of communication. Format-wise, brand:twitter= means twitter= of the brand= , which isn’t consistent with the adoption of contact:twitter= over twitter= . brand:website= , brand:phone= , etc are straightforward, as they are website= and phone= of the brand= . But I didn’t see the applicability of contact:*= discussed for brand:*= . Both brand:facebook= and brand:twitter= were mostly mass-added.
